Introduction
This guide walks you through connecting your Mila air purifier to your home WiFi network using an iPhone. Following these steps carefully will help ensure a smooth setup.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following ready:
- iPhone or iPad with the latest version of the Mila app installed
- Your home WiFi network name and password (2.4 GHz networks only — Mila does not support 5 GHz)
- Location services enabled on your device
- Your Mila powered on and nearby
Pro tip: Turn off your phone’s cellular data before starting setup. This prevents interference with Mila’s temporary WiFi signal during pairing.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Delete your existing Mila from the app (if applicable). Open the Mila app, tap on Mila’s picture on the home screen, scroll to the bottom of the room page, tap Room Settings, then tap Delete this room.
- Open the Mila app and tap the + tile on the dashboard to add a Mila.
- Choose a room and room size for your Mila from the options provided and tap Next.
- Enter pairing mode. Press and hold the O button in the center of Mila’s display until you hear a beep and the screen shows Ready to Connect. Tap Next in the app.
- Join the Mila network. Tap Join Mila Air Purifier when it appears. Wait for the loading spinner to finish before tapping the green Next button.
Note: If you see “Lost connection to Mila,” it likely means Mila isn’t in pairing mode yet. Press and hold the O button again to retry. - Connect to your home WiFi. Tap Connect to WiFi. Select your home network from the list. If no networks appear, move Mila closer to your router and try again.
Note: Mila only supports 2.4 GHz WiFi. If you have a dual-band router, make sure the 2.4 GHz band is active. - Enter your WiFi password carefully. After entering it, listen for the tri-tone happy beep — this confirms your password was accepted. A flat tone means the password was incorrect — double-check and try again.
- Complete the pairing flow by following the remaining on-screen steps. You’ll hear another tri-tone happy beep when you tap Finished.
- Wait for the connection beep. After about 1–2 minutes, you’ll hear a single beep. This means Mila has successfully connected to the Mila cloud.
- Watch for Outdoor AQI. The display will change from “— —” to a number once Mila has pulled in outdoor air quality data. This may take a few minutes after the connection beep.
- Firmware update (if applicable). If Mila hasn’t been updated yet, you may see “Firmware Update” on the screen followed by a single beep and a reboot. This means Mila is updating to the latest firmware version. Once complete, it will restart automatically.
- Check the app. Your Mila should appear online within a few minutes. If it takes longer, try force-closing and reopening the app to refresh. It can occasionally take up to 15–20 minutes during periods of high traffic.
- You’re all set! Once Mila shows as online, setup is complete.
